About Us
Research indicates that showcasing successful female role models in STEM fields can enhance the influence of role models on elementary school students and young learners. This, in turn, helps to break gender stereotypes in STEM, allowing students to explore various fields through video content. By understanding the different roles and responsibilities in industry, government, and academia, students can gain deeper insights and have more reference points when envisioning their future careers.
In response to this, the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) Science Education and International Cooperation Division has launched the “Meet Female Engineers and Scientists” Video Platform, a STEM public engagement project. This initiative features 24 distinguished female professionals across various STEM fields, including civil engineering, construction, urban planning, electronics, electrical engineering, information technology, telecommunications, chemistry, chemical materials, environmental engineering, green energy, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, medicine, pharmacy, mechanical engineering, mathematics, and physics.
Each featured engineer or scientist shares her personal and professional journey in a 5-minute short film, which is published on the “Meet Female Engineers and Scientists” Video Platform after being reviewed and approved by the interviewees.
