
Introduction
The Center was established at University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM) on November 1, 2017. With BIM API, VR, AR and big data, and project management as the core of research but not limited to BIM API, VR, AR and big data, and project management; the project starts from Tamkang University, but does not limited itself to the scope of Tamkang University. The project invites universities, professors, industries, and governmental agencies in Taiwan, Malaysia, and other southbound countries to participate in the project, and to become the core outpost for two-way exchanges between Taiwan and Malaysia; Taiwan and other southbound countries in terms of scientific and technological research, talent cultivation, and technology development.
With the advancement of technology, construction project management, in addition to construction technology and construction law, is gaining more and more attention, and there are a lot of applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and information technology such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (ARG). In view of the fact that Tamkang University and the University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM) have a long history of research results in this field, and in line with the government’s new southbound policy, on November 1, 2017, Tamkang University and the University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM) established the “Taiwan-Malaysia Digital Technology Overseas Research Center”, and on January 29, 2018, a total of about 100 participants from Malaysia and Taiwan attended the contract signing and opening ceremony at the University of Reading Malaysia.
The “Taiwan-Malaysia Digital Technology Overseas Research Center” takes AI, BIM, AR, VR and big data as the core of its research, but does not limit itself to AI, BIM, AR, VR and big data. In order to achieve its mission and to enhance effective development, the Center collaborates with the CLC. The Center starts from Tamkang University, but does not limited itself to the scope of Tamkang University. It invites universities, professors, industries, and government agencies in Taiwan and Malaysia to join, and is dedicated to become a core outpost for two-way exchanges between Taiwan and Malaysia on industrial and technological research, talent cultivation, and technology development, and to work together to promote international scientific research and technological innovation, and to facilitate industrial exchanges.
